Someday we hope to replace all the old carpeting on the second level of our home with hardwood floors. We did this on the first level a few years ago. Not only do I think using area rugs is more homey, I think it is healthier also. It is much easier to replace an area rug every few years than it is to have a room recarpeted.

To help pull my daughter's space together, which we had redone with mostly lavender, light green, and pink, Rugs USA sent us a coordinating Colonial Mills Simple Home Collection area rug. The color is very soft and serene. The majority of the colors available in this collection are very neutral so you are likely to find one that works with your color scheme.


Although you cannot tell in the online stock photos, this rug has a satiny sheen to it. This was a very pleasant surprise because I think it adds an elegance to the rug. I also very much like the binding on the rug around the edges. This binding really helps this rug to keep its shape.


We received the 2' 3" x 3' 10" area rug, which is the perfect size for a private play space for our daughter. This rug has been in our home for about two months and has held up against children and cats extremely well. So far, there have been no pulls at all.
