Silly Monkey Stories: A 4 Year Old's Use of Psychology

Our preschool-aged son Luke has made it a habit of hiding toys under his pillow at night.  We've found everything from action figures to a pair of 15" Star Wars Blaster Toy Guns under there!  I have no idea how he can sleep comfortably with hard plastic toys under his head.

Since summer began, Luke's big brother has been staying up way too late at night, which causes him to sleep far too late in the morning.  It really is a chore to wake him up.  One morning, not too long ago, I heard Luke attempting to do just that.  What I heard was . . .

"Jake!  Wake up Jake!!"

Then when Luke didn't receive any response from his big brother, he continued . . .

"Okay then.  I guess you don't want to play with these cool cars I have under my pillow!  I guess you don't want to play with these cool cars Jake."

I suppose he just used whatever reasoning that would have worked on himself.  In any case, he did not succeed in convincing his big brother to get out of bed.
