We were sent an eco-friendly t-shirt to try out for Quinn, my 3 ½ year old. This adorable shirt is made of 100% organic cotton and it is silk screened with non-phthalate, water-based inks. Each shirt is individually rubbed with rocks to give a funky “worn” look around the edges and it’s pre-washed so it won’t shrink. The message, “I make a difference” is in red on the off-white shirt, which makes it really pop and has attracted a lot of attention to Quinn and his personal mantra. The peace sign gives it just the extra “umph” that it needs to make it a perfect shirt for our family’s motto. As an added bonus, it comes with Retail Therapy’s famous seed embedded hang tags that are made from post-consumer waste. If you plant it, wildflowers will grow.
I am more than pleased by this shirt. I love everything about this company’s ethics and the t-shirt lives up to it. It is very thin, which is the only problem I’ve found as I can see it wearing out pretty quickly. As a result, I am only hang-drying instead of using my electric dryer so as to make it last longer. As far as the eco-friendly aspect of the shirt and the company, I think they are right on target. It was even packaged with minimal waste, more evidence that this company means what they say.
You can buy this shirt and more of Retail Therapy’s products, which includes infant/toddler onesies and children's t-shirts up to a size 6-8, on their website ShopRetailTherapy.net . This particular shirt retails for $35. Also look for Retail Therapy on Facebook.
