“Cleaning up the planet, one bag at a time” is the motto of ECOBAGS, an online retailer of reusable gift bags and other green products. This Christmas, I am really looking to downsize the amount of waste that comes with wrapping presents in traditional wrapping paper, so this review was right up my alley. I have been searching around for some eco-friendly gift bags on some of my favorite online stores, but haven’t had any luck finding something I like that’s also in my price range. I was really thrilled to receive this tote and am very pleased with its quality.First, I like the general message on it, “Celebrate!”, so it’s very religion neutral and could be used for any faith. I also liked its size, 10" x 9" x 3.5",which is just big enough for smaller gifts. It can easily hold a DVD lying down inside, and I put a standard-sized DVD case next to it to give a size comparison.
More than anything else, though, I like that it’s made from recycled cotton canvas, and it’s fair wage and fair labor. Don’t be fooled by the “recycled” term, though, it’s far from flimsy. This tote will be around for many holidays to come. For the sake of being eco-friendly, I stuffed the bag with some fabric scraps I found lying around, instead of wasteful tissue paper. I think the result was beautiful and waste-free!
