TWINtuitive Product #20 I chose this extra large dollhouse from Learning Curve's Caring Corners line to feature as a "TWINtuitive Product", because it unfolds into a double-sided house. What this means is that two (or more) children can play together, but also separately at the same time. Although twins usually appear to be inseparable, they often do not have a choice. They share their toys and sometimes their clothes and a bedroom. It is nice for them to have the option to play separately but still have the comfort of each other's company.
Santa is bringing our nearly 3yr old daughter a Mrs. Goodbee Interactive Dollhouse this year! I think this is the perfect gift from Santa because all three of our children loved the Daisy Greenway Interactive Camper from the same Caring Corners collection. The problem was that the camper was not roomy enough for three children to play, but this double-sided dollhouse is.
Let's take a tour of Mrs. Goodbee!
1) Mrs. Goodbee comes mostly assembled. The only parts to attach are the chimney, the front steps, the bay window, and the swing on the roof. Still, if you are putting this dollhouse under the tree on Christmas morning, I would recommend assembling it ahead of time because there are approximately 40 decals to put in place.
2) When the dollhouse is unfolded, there are bunkbeds and floors in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom that need to be lowered. Conversely, you must remember to fold them up before closing the dollhouse.
3) This house comes with three figures . . . a girl, a baby, and a dog. This is enough to get your child started without having to purchase additional figures. You may want to purchase some additional furniture because the only rooms that are fully furnished are the nursery and the office area.
4) Although the interactive sounds are fun, it is nice to have the option of turning them off with a conveniently positioned switch for when you prefer some quiet play.
5) A small portion of the stickers are a sheet of stars used to mark all the parts of the house that create sound, such as the doorbell on the front of the house.
6) The first section of the house contains the attic complete with a trunk, the children's bedroom, and the kitchen.
7) In the children's bedroom, there are bunkbeds with a ladder plus two windows with flaps that fold down to change the scenery outside.
8) The kitchen comes with a dishwasher, cabinets, and a refrigerator that open. When the fridge is opened, it makes chilly wintry sounds.
9) The only single complaint I have about this dollhouse is in regards to the refrigerator. The rest of the dollhouse is extremely well thought out, so this just does not make sense to me. There are two decals for the interior of the fridge, one for the top and one for the bottom. Well the one for the top is a rectangle even though there is that raised portion on the bottom right. In the manual the sticker has the corner cut out, so I had to manually cut the corner off the decal to fit just right.
10) The next section of the house contains a spare room, a bedroom, and the living room.
11) The spare room contains a bench and a dog bed, which makes sounds when you press down on the cushion.
12) The living room contains a heart over the fireplace that lights up whenever the doorbell rings.
13) The windows in this bedroom also fold down, except these change from night to day. Also the window on the right makes sounds when the flap is opened and closed. Under the window on the left, you will find the lever that moves Mrs. Goodbee's eyes on the front of the house.
14) The next section of the house contains a play area, a nursery, and an office area.
15) The play area has games on the floor, such as hopscotch, plus a boombox off to the side that plays music.
16) The nursery has a crib that rocks, which activates another sound.
17) The nursery shares a revolving door with the bathroom that I know my kids will find to be fascinating.
18) The office area comes complete with a computer chair that is not attached to the dollhouse, so it can be moved to be used in another area of the house.
20) The bathroom has two parts that give off sound . . . the floor in front of the sink and the handle on the toilet.
And that concludes our tour. I hope you enjoyed it. There is one more thing I'd like to tell you about Caring Corners. They have a donation program called "Carton of Caring" in which your child can fill the empty Mrs. Goodbee box with clean and gently used clothing and toys to donate to Goodwill. Your child is encouraged to create a gift tag to put on the box before you bring it to Goodwill together. This would be an especially fitting idea during the holidays, plus it will be a good excuse to clear out some toys before more toys are added.
