Shop 'n' Share: DonorsChoose.org Giving Card Stocking Stuffer

Last night at dinner, my husband asked Jake an interesting question. He asked if Jake was suddenly given a large quantity of money, what would he use the money toward? Well, of course, he said he would buy a ton of toys. That's when I made up my mind that I Santa was going to put a DonorsChoose.org Giving Card in Jake's Christmas stocking this year. Don't worry, it won't be the only thing in his stocking.

I had never ordered a Giving Card before, but it turned out to be very simple. You have a choice of ordering one to be sent by email, a physical card by snail mail, or in a file that you can print out at home. I was pleased to find that there was not an extra charge for the physical card. The Giving Card could be any denomination and the purchase is tax deductable. I was able to put To: Jake and From: Santa on the card along with a personalized message.

When Jake redeems the card online, he will get to choose one or more classrooms across the United States to give to. Each classroom will have a specific need and the site shows how many dollars it still needs to purchase a particular piece of equipment or other supplies for their classroom. I am looking forward to sitting down with Jake to read about all these classrooms in need.
