Review: Disney Princess Enchanted Tales DVD

Since my oldest child is a boy, we actually do not have many DVDs geared towards girls in our house. Of course we have many DVDs that appeal to both boys and girls, but still I welcome the chance to review the new Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams, which was just released on September 8th, 2009.

This 56 minute DVD contains two inspiring stories about Princess Aurora of Sleeping Beauty and Princess Jasmine of Aladdin. Both tales teach children that girls can do much more than be social and look pretty. Aurora took on the task of running the kingdom while the King and Queen were away. In doing this, she learned that it does not pay to take the easy way out no matter how tempting it is. Jasmine's tale reinforced the concept of being strong and never giving up.

This DVD also comes with a Bonus Disc, which contains two music videos and a sneak peak at the upcoming animated film "The Princess and the Frog". The music videos feature Cinderella and one of my favorite Disney Princesses Mulan.

Had my 2-1/2 yr old daughter been a year older, I think she would have enjoyed this DVD much more. Unfortunately, it was not able to hold her attention at this age and she was enthralled with the princesses on the DVD insert instead. My 5yr old son very much liked both stories, but I think the antics of Aurora with the magic wand entertained him the most.

You should be able to find this Disney Princess DVD locally and online at the Disney Store and at other retailers of quality children's DVDs.
