Milk . . . It's What the Cool Kids Are Drinking

Milk has always been a staple in our house, but it has been especially so since our twin preemies turned one. The pediatrician told us that whole milk was a must in their diet. Luckily, we have never had a problem with getting any of our 3 children to drink it. In fact, our twins still drink up to 24oz every single day.

In addition to the added fat, I think milk is a great source of protein, calcium, and vitamin D for children and adults alike. Since my children love whole milk without any frills, I only add things to it occasionally for treats. Sometimes I make chocolate milk, but a very special treat would be a chocolate or vanilla milk shake.

The Milk Council and Mom Central have teamed up to help spread the word about the celebrity-filled Got Milk? campaign and to share tips about why everyone should be drinking milk. Below are a few of the celebrities who are helping to reach audiences of all ages . . .

The best tip I found on WhyMilk.com is that milk is the most economical option when it comes to getting the proper nutrients. At roughly $.25 per glass, there is a significant savings when you think about having to drink multiple bottles of energy drinks and vitamin-enhanced water to receive the same nutrients as one would get by drinking just one glass of milk. Who couldn't afford to save approximately $20/week in this economy?
