SafetyCaps is a dad-owned business that was created after a man named George had a terrible scare when his little girl Sage nearly choked to death on a standard safety outlet cover. I so welcomed the opportunity to try out these larger safer caps because the twins are nothing like their older brother. They get into everything and the words "no" and "don't touch" somehow translate into "do whatever you want" in their heads.
What I liked about SafetyCaps . . .
1) The size is definitely much more safe than the standard outlet covers. The rule is that if you can fit it through a toilet paper tube, then it's a possible choking hazard. This 2-1/4" cap definitely passes that test.
2) The SafetyCaps fit very well (snug even in my old outlets).
3) They were removable by lifting up at the sides just as you would at the top of classic safety caps. They were not too difficult to remove, but not too easy at the same time.
4) Since ours is a technology-rich household, I was very pleased to find that the SafetyCaps fit well on a power strip. They overlap a bit, but seem to create a nice protective shield.
I have yet to see many child-proofing gadgets that are actually attractive. These plugs are no more or less attractive than the smaller safety caps in my opinion. If you saw how many safety gates were in our house, you wouldn't even notice what was on the outlets anyways. It's a small price to pay to keep your little ones safe, right?
