It's time for another giveaway!
Recently, I was fortunate enough to be offered the chance to test and review the My Fruit Roll-Ups experience. If you are not familiar with this product, it is actually a website where you can design your own personalized Fruit Roll-Ups for a special occasion or just for fun.
I decided it would be fun to create a box of birthday Fruit Roll-Ups. Since my "3 Garnets" all have their birthdays in January, it seemed like the ideal thing to do. My preschooler thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating a design. You start off by choosing a canvas and then simply enter text or upload a photo for the different customizable fields. There are choices of different fonts and options to adjust the brightness and contrast of your photos. We made two different designs before deciding on which one we wanted to go with. If you register, you can save as many designs as you would like.
When ordering, I recommend that you plan ahead and give yourself more than two weeks to receive your delivery. At no fault of My Fruit Roll-Ups, my package sat in the UPS sortation center for four days after it reached Massachusetts. We almost did not receive it in time for our first January birthday.
This is what the packaging looks like. YAY for five Box Tops! Each Fruit Roll-Up was individually wrapped and they were all strawberry flavored. As far as I could tell, there was no choice in flavors.
This is what how our photos and text translated onto the rolled fruit. As you can see, the results are similar to how it would look if you had used a photocopier. For that reason, I am extremely pleased with how the text came out, but I'm thinking that next time I would choose photos that had less dark areas in them.
We ended up sending 15 of these to my son's preschool class as a snack to celebrate his birthday. From what I was told, the children enjoyed them immensely.
One last tip . . . even though we are in the middle of winter here in New England, the Fruit Roll-Ups became soft and stick very easily in our warm house. We had a lot of difficulty unrolling them at room temperature. For this reason, I recommend that you store them in a cool place or even in the fridge. The one shown in the photo above was chilled and unrolled very easily without any tearing or distortion of the designs.
