A Handy Tool to Accompany Your Caller ID

I use to think that the invention of caller ID for home and mobile phones was the greatest invention ever. About a year or so ago, I began to notice that more and more IDs were showing as "unknown" or "800 service." Until recently, I thought my only recourse was to set my phone service to reject anonymous calls. I have not done this because there are several places, like my children's pediatrician's office for example, who use a private number.

Today I found a website where you can trace any phone number using a reverse directory. How this works is just through a vast database of numbers belonging to people throughout the United States and Canada. What is different about this website is that I cannot find any traces of ads, banners, or pop-up windows. Because this is a free service, the information for some mobile phone users and people with unlisted numbers are not always available.
