3 Fun New Children's Book for Spring 2013

Thank you to Sterling Publishing for providing complimentary product samples for us to base this review upon.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Sterling Children’s Books is out with three new books that are sure to be favorites on your kids' bookshelves. The Big Bad Wolf Goes on Vacation by Delphine Perret is a funny little story about Louis and his friend Bernard, a.k.a. the Big Bad Wolf. When Louis does his homework, his best friend Bernard makes it difficult with all his chatting, so Louis is excited to be going to the beach with his Grandpa to get away from all the work and chattiness of Bernard. But when his grandpa says Louis can bring Bernard along (who is disguised as a dog) Louis decides it will be fun to see the beach with his best bud. Bernard tries his best to stay in character, but it’s not easy and there are many laughable moments between the three. I laughed out loud many times while reading this and thought it was highly entertaining, as did my kids.

Nighty-Night, Sleep Tight by Jennifer Berne is a sweet, rhyming bedtime story for toddlers and young preschoolers. This book takes kids on a journey throughout the world to say "nighty-night" to many different animals. From the Scarlet Macaws in Peru to the chimpanzees in the African Congo, kids take a trip with beautiful illustrations and soothing words. This book is perfect for younger children and is a very calming story.

And finally, delight your children with realistic looking illustrations in Shimmer & Splash by Jim Arnosky. This book shows children pictures, some in actual size, plus gives tons of facts about a variety of sea creatures such as sailfish, jellyfish, and sting rays. Some of the pages even open wider to give more space to share about the marine life. These gorgeous and very true-to-life drawings give kids knowledge and ability to actually distinguish these creatures and are sure to bring out the marine biologist in kids everywhere.
