Giveaway & Review: "Yogi Bear" Movie Blu-ray/DVD Combo (2 Winners) [CLOSED]

Our 7 year old son has been waiting for the new Yogi Bear movie to come out on DVD for months.  He was able to watch the movie a few days early, but come March 22nd, the wait is over for all the other Yogi Bear fans out there.

Having grown up watching the animated Yogi Bear show on television, my husband and I were skeptical about how well the film would be able to capture the charm of Yogi and the innocence of Boo Boo.  Our 7 year old son had watched the cartoon several times before, but our 4 year old twins had only once or twice.  Although the viewer does not need to have past experience with Yogi Bear to follow or enjoy the film, those who have will be able to pick out the classic Yogi Bear trademarks, such as stating that he is "smarter than the average bear."

The picnic basket-stealing bear Yogi (Dan Aykroyd), his best friend Boo Boo (Justin Timberlake), Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh), and documentary filmmaker Rachel (Ana Faris) team up to save Jellystone Park from being closed down by the power-hungry Mayor Brown (Andrew Daly).  Aykroyd and Timberlake did well in their roles, but there were not too many opportunities to let their own personalities shine through.  Cavanagh portrayed a version of Ranger Smith that was less stern and serious than I remembered the park ranger to be, but it worked.

Although this film is rated PG, I found it perfectly suitable for our preschoolers.  Though the movie was able to hold our 3 children's attention, I did not hear them laugh out loud.  Despite this, our children all said that they enjoyed the film, when asked.  As usual, the physical comedy was our 7 year old son's favorite part.  As for my husband and I, we found this movie to be entertaining enough, but it was most certainly more geared towards children than adults.

Yogi Bear will be available on a Blu-ray/DVD combo, DVD, digital download, and on On Demand starting March 22nd, 2011.  Visit YogiBear.WarnerBros.com to learn more about this film.

Thank you to Warner Bros. Advanced Digital Services for providing a complimentary product sample for us to base this review upon and for providing additional product for our contest prizes.
