Back to School 2010 Giveaway: Streamlining Your Morning Routine (5 Winners) [CLOSED]
This fall, we will have three children to get up and ready for school instead of one. The thought of it is making me rather nervous. This is uncharted territory for us. Getting our 6 year old son up, ready, and to the bus stop on time was challenging enough last year, but now we will be adding getting our 3 year old twins up, dressed, fed, and to preschool on time as well.
- Help your children pick out their clothes and lay them out the night before, including matching socks.
- Make sure all homework and anything else that needs to go to school are already in their school bags.
- Take the empty lunch bag from your child when they come home from school, repack it immediately with the following day's lunch, and put it in the fridge.
- Leave the school bag unzipped to remind you that you need to put the lunch or snack in there the next morning.
- Leave the drinkware, flatware, and dishes needed for breakfast out on the counter the night before.
- Serve your children something for breakfast that is nutritious, but can be prepared easily and quickly, like the new Eggo Real Fruit Pizzas. They offer your child a hot breakfast with just 1-minute in the microwave.
- Serve your child something you know they will like to eat to avoid a battle at breakfast. Save the experimenting for the weekends.
What you can win:
FIVE lucky readers will each receive one box of each of the two varieties of Eggo Real Fruit Pizza.
One reader from all the participating blogs will be chosen to win the Grand Prize, containing one of each variety of Eggo Real Fruit Pizza and a Pair of Kellogg's Mugs.
Random Drawing:
This contest will be closed on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 at 11:59pm EST. A random number drawing will be held shortly after. The winners will be announced here and will be contact via email or through their blog. If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new number will be drawn.
Good luck in the drawing!

I think it is better if you have a checklist so you don't forget anything that your child needs. With a list of things you need to do first then it will be easier everyday and I guess supervision is a must too to avoid wasting time.

I like to do as much as I can the night before...set up the coffee maker, start packing lunches (except for sandwiches, I like to make those in the morning) and I also try to have enough of a variety of breakfast foods in the house so I don't have to hear "we don't have anything I like". Thanks for the review and giveaway!

I make sure the backpacks are already to go, with homework, books, papers signed. I get out clothes, and I even have planned what I am making for breakfast.

My best tip is to get as much ready the night before that you can. Lay out clothes, pack bags, pack lunches, even go as far as to lay out the diaper for the baby!! The more you do the night before, the less you will have to rush around in the morning.

Having everything ready to go helps me get out of the house faster. Clothes ready, lunches packed, bookbags in car.

I don't make any dentist or doctor apps before noon so that there is no need to rush around getting ready to go, and we can just relax.

I always like to make a batch of pancake batter over the weekend and use it throughout the next week. I've never had it go bad before the end of the week, and it is much tastier than re-heating already made pancakes.

I prepare as much as possible the night before. I have my daughter's cloth already ironed. She does not like to eat much in the mornings so it's usually toast, fruit, or pop tarts.

Take the morning as it comes no sense making yourself crazy rushing about, and have your days plans- shopping, appointments, meetings, events written down the day before and in order of happening so you can see it clearly what you have to do and when for the next day should make things go much smooothly and easily

keep a list of your daily "to dos" for the morning in a handy location (smart phone, taped to your door, etc.). the night before, go over the list, place things near the door related to errands, etc., add specific to dos for that day, and also get things ready. i like to keep a tote bag with all of the miscellaneous things that i need for the day. in the morning i grab it and go.

We just have a routine. Up early, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast. I pack their lunches while they eat breakfast and then out the door. We've been doing it for so long that it just feels natural.

My trick is to make the bottles before I let my twins see me in the morning because if I show up empty handed to get them out of their cribs in the morning it makes them mad!

By getting things ready the evening before, my mornings run pretty smooth. Lunches are prepared in the frig, clothes laid out and stuff for breakfast ready to go. That way, sleepy people can get what they need without thinking too much - lol

I have created a velcro picture schedule for my kids. Each task they must do each morning (eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth, etc) has a separate picture that they move into a pocket once they have completed it. This ensures that everything gets done and helps them become more independent.
