Review: Mrs. Dash "Fiesta Lime" Seasoning Blend

It is likely I have mentioned before that I am not a big fan of Southwestern flavors as far as food goes, but my husband likes Southwestern and Mexican cuisine very much. So when Mrs. Dash came out with two new seasoning blends, I thought that the new Fiesta Lime would be perfect for our household. This would allow us to season some of the foods we cook for my husband and leave some without seasonings for myself. We decided to test it out on something easy like grilled steaks.

What my family thought about the Mrs. Dash Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend:

1) The seasoning adhered to the uncooked steak very well.

2) Although the seasoning blend was very potent in both aroma and taste, the lime flavoring was detectable, but not too overpowering.

3) One thing I was concerned about was that this blend might be too hot and spicy to serve to our children, but that was not the case. In fact, my husband said the spices were not hot at all.

4) We think that this seasoning blend would work better in marinades, sauces, and dips. Of course we only tried it this one time, but it seemed to cause the meat to dry out while cooking. The steaks we did not use the seasoning on were not dry at all.

After trying this seasoning blend from Mrs. Dash, I feel more inclined to try some of her non-Southwestern blends. I think it's about time I branched out from just using garlic salt and ground pepper to season everything.
