Welcome to my first Works For Me Wednesday! Do you have a million of these in your house?
Well, I wanted to share a way to store them that has worked for us for over two years. When my son's collection started growing into the hundreds, we had to figure out a new way to store the cars that would not damage them. Even the largest Hot Wheels suitcases only hold 100 cars.
My husband and I have to be very creative with storage in this tiny little townhouse of ours. We came up with the idea of storing the cars in a single layer in boot trays and keeping the trays under the living room sofa! It has worked out really well. The cars are out of the way and out of sight, my son can access them easily, the cars won't get damaged as they would all thrown into a bin, plus the trays keep other toys from disappearing underneath the sofa.

wow! in time, they'll be priceless. priceless in the sense of bringing back jake's childhood memories of each of those cars.

Thanks for the tip! So far, we're lucky in that the grandparents haven't extended the die cast car collection here to past 100. That should come any day now, though, with 2 boys!

Thanks for a GREAT idea. I have struggled with this problem for a few years, but no more - I headed out to buy some boot trays!

Yip we have hundreds of these too - HUNDREDS!
One of our toy shop had a big truck that has slots on either side for the cars to go in and then closes - so like a suitcase in the shape of a truck almost! So Cameron packs his top 50 in there and the rest get shoved in the "car" box!

Great idea. I wish I had thought of that when my son was little :)

What a clever solution! Thank goodness my son has grown out of the die cast car faze - those things really hurt when you step on one barefoot at 3am!
